UMaine Fraternity to Receive Service
Award |
 |
The Beta Eta Chapter of Beta Theta Pi at
UMaine is being recognized next week for the success of
its annual sleep out for Rape Response Services. The
fraternity will be recognized on Sept. 3 at the Bangor
agency’s annual auction. Fraternity members will receive
the Teal Ribbon Award, which goes to a community group or
member for outstanding community service and support for
the agency, and for promoting awareness of sexual
violence. Carey Nason, coordinator of UMaine’s Safe
Campus Project, says the sleep out raised about $5,000
last February for Rape Response Services and drew
much-need attention to sexual assault and sexual violence
issues. |

UMaine's Labor Law Guide Revised |
 |
With Labor Day a few days away, the
University of Maine's Bureau of Labor Education has
revised and reissued A Maine Guide to Employment Law.
Because labor laws change over time as a result of
administrative, political and judicial influences, the
revised Guide addresses many of those labor law changes.
The Guide encompasses a myriad of important statutes that
govern work and employee-employer relations. The new
Guide also addresses employment law issues in an
easy-to-use question-and-answer format.
A news release about the new A Maine Guide to Employment
Law is here. |
